Welcome to Toastmasters and the Daybreakers Toastmasters Club. Toastmasters International is the leading organization in the world devoted to helping people develop and enhance their communication and leadership skills. These skills can be applied to our everyday business activities as well as to our personal lives. Toastmasters International has more than 210,000 members in over 90 countries. To help you enjoy and understand what Toastmasters is all about, we have prepared this brief overview of our program.
A typical Toastmasters meeting contains six parts:
At the end of the meeting we will invite our guests to give us their impressions and comments on our meeting.
Especially important is the fact that Daybreakers Toastmasters allows us to practice communication and leadership skills in an enjoyable, supportive and non-threatening atmosphere. So, we invite you to sit back, relax, watch and listen to a Toastmasters program in action.

What will I learn at Toastmasters? |
In Toastmasters you will learn how to successfully formulate, express and sell your ideas and yourself and get rid of that nervousness you feel when called upon to speak. You will improve your ability to listen to and evaluate other peoples ideas and you will learn leadership skills along the way. |

How often does Daybreakers Toastmasters meet? |
Our club meets every Thursday morning from 6:40am to 8:10am at Westcreek Apartments Meeting Room on near Loop 610 (West) and San Felipe (near the Galleria). |

Can I just come and watch for a while without joining? |
Yes. Meetings are open to the general public. |

How many times can I come before I have to join? |
As often as you want to. |

Who do I talk to about joining? |
The Vice President of Membership or, if not available, any club officer. |

When can I join? |
Anytime. |

How much does it cost to be a member? |
Dues are $20.00/month (paid 2 times yearly) plus a one-time new member fee of $20.00. This provides your educational materials (including your first four manuals) and subscription to the monthly magazine. Your payment also covers the cost of the meeting room and buffet breakfast. |

What materials are provided to me? |
When you join you will receive a packet of material that includes everything you need during your first month as a Toastmaster. You will receive your two basic manuals (one for Competent Communicator and one for Competent Leader) from Toastmasters International in less than 10 days. In addition, as a member you receive a monthly Toastmasters magazine from Toastmasters International. |

Who decides which member performs what function during a meeting? |
The Vice President of Education prepares the schedule. Each week's Toastmaster also has some discretion with that week's agenda. |

After I join am I on my own? |
No - Daybreakers Toastmasters has a mentoring program whereby you may ask another member (or request that a member be assigned to you) to function as a mentor to help you with your progress in Toastmasters. |
